Cirencester Civic Society logoCirencester Civic Society exists to preserve the character of this historic and friendly market town, and to make people aware of the need to look after it. The streets and parklands are rich in architectural treasures not only of Roman times but of the medieval, Georgian and Victorian eras: the result is a town of pleasant and diverse visual quality, which has been protected by attentive guardians of previous generations.

Today that task falls to voluntary bodies such as the Civic Society: in this time of economic, technological and social evolution, we seek to conserve those buildings, streets and prospects which give the town its distinctive character. But Cirencester is not a museum, stuck in the past - it is a busy market town. People visit it or decide to live in it because it is a modern community, working and trading in a pleasing setting. The problem today is to maintain that attractive quality and yet accommodate recent massive changes in taste, lifestyle and the economy.

Cheltenham Civic Society logoCheltenham Civic Society aims to stimulate interest in the history and character of the town, preservation and conservation of its best architectural and historical features, promotion of the highest standards of planning and design in new building and landscaping.

The society’s activities include a programme of events on subjects around the aims of the society, a planning forum which provides advice to the Cheltenham Planning Committee, organising the annual Civic Awards to reward good design in architecture within Cheltenham, support for the annual Heritage Open Days in September, installation of plaques on buildings to commemorate their association with significant people or events and a newsletter.

Gloucester Civic Trust logoGloucester Civic Trust is an independent charity run by volunteers, many with professional or expert involvement in architecture, planning, archaeology and the arts.

The Trust was founded in 1972 to actively encourage appreciation and conservation of Gloucester's historic and architectural heritage. It is a major force in the promotion of city tourism through both guided tours and information services.
